Seeker's Hub in Azzawia, Cape Town

IT could be said that the towering spirit of the late Sayyid Muhammad 'Alawi al-Maliki (one of Islam's greatest scholars of modern times) resided in the Azzawia, Cape Town, when the Seeker's Hub's Spread Light Tour kicked off its Cape Town leg in South Africa. The Seeker's Hub, which is a world-wide internet-based school of traditional Islamic knowledge, offers classes free of charge to a wide audience via live streaming.

The gathering was addressed by Abdul Rahman Malik, director of the tour, as well as Seeker's Hub lecturers Ustadh Amjad Tarsim, Shaikh Faraz Rabbani and Shaikh Yahya Rhodus. All the brief talks centred around the comfort and succour that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) - as a peaceful message bearer and beacon of spiritual light - can offer to humankind in today's troubled times.

The evening concluded with nasheed (devotional poetry) recited by Sidi Nader Khan who has raised 250,00 US dollars (R3 million) for water projects in the developing world.
